Nigerian Scientist Proposes Nanotech Solution to Pollution

Dr. Suka Momta, an environmental scientist from Nigeria, presented a solution to global pollution during a roundtable discussion on energy and maritime issues in Port Harcourt.

His research, which spans 30 years, focuses on the severe environmental pollution caused by oil operations in the Niger Delta. Momta's innovative approach utilizes organ-based nanotechnology to convert contaminated water into drinkable water, addressing the persistent pollution challenges in the region.

He highlighted that conventional remediation methods have proven ineffective, often leading to re-contamination. His team conducted independent investigations in communities with populations of around 400,000, sampling groundwater and identifying high concentrations of harmful pollutants.

Momta's findings will be discussed at an international conference in Lagos in 2024, where he anticipates significant interest from industrial experts. He emphasized that his method poses zero risk to humans, crops, and the ecosystem, contrasting with traditional methods that have failed to restore the environment effectively.
