Chelsea Fined £10M, Faces Suspended Transfer Ban

Chelsea Football Club has been penalized with a £10 million fine and a suspended two-window transfer ban by an independent appeal board, as confirmed by the Football Association (FA). This punishment arises from the club admitting to breaches of FA agent rules, specifically concerning secret payments to agents during the ownership of Roman Abramovich.

The FA charged Chelsea with 74 breaches of FA Rule E1.2 after the club's current owners self-reported the misconduct following their acquisition of the club in May 2022. The transfers that raised concerns during the takeover process reportedly include deals for players such as Eden Hazard, Samuel Eto'o, and Willian.

An earlier independent commission had initially imposed a suspended six-point deduction, which was later set aside, leading to the current suspended transfer ban being enforced.
