Joao Pedro Wins Premier League Player of the Month Award

Joao Pedro, a forward for Chelsea FC, has been awarded the EA Sports Premier League Player of the Month for August 2026. This recognition comes after an impressive start to his first full season with the club, where he outperformed Chelsea teammate Cole Palmer and six other nominees in a public vote combined with selections from football experts and Premier League captains.

This is the first time Joao Pedro has received this award, making him the first Chelsea player to win it since Palmer in September 2024. During August, Pedro played a crucial role in Chelsea's perfect start to the Premier League, scoring two goals and providing two assists in their opening two matches.

He scored in the first match against Fulham just 31 seconds in and assisted Palmer for the winning goal in a 3-2 victory. He also scored against his former club Brighton & Hove Albion and assisted Palmer again in a 4-3 win.

His contributions helped establish a new attacking combination under manager Xabi Alonso.
