Spurs to Hire Psychologist Amid Relegation Struggles

Tottenham Hotspur is set to appoint a lead performance psychologist for their men's first team as part of efforts to address their deteriorating form. The club has not won in 15 Premier League matches and currently sits in the relegation zone, two points from safety, with five matches left in the season.

The new head coach, Roberto De Zerbi, who was appointed in late March, is the club's third manager this season. He has openly stated that the squad requires a mental shift to turn around their results.

The role of the psychologist will involve delivering evidence-based psychological support to elite players and collaborating with coaching and performance staff to foster a psychologically informed performance culture within the squad. The recruitment of a sports psychologist, also present in the women's team setup, indicates a broader investment in mental performance infrastructure.
