Nigeria's N22bn Estacode and Air Ticket Spending Under Tinubu

Under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration, the Nigerian government has expended a total of N22,674,234,602 on estacode and air tickets, with a notable spike in spending recorded in 2024 amounting to N15.67 billion, which constitutes two-thirds of the total expenditure. In 2023, the expenditure was N3.26 billion, while projections for 2025 indicate a drop to N3.41 billion and N324.88 million for early 2026.

The breakdown shows that the Federal Ministry of Finance accounted for the highest expenditure at N5.15 billion, followed by the Federal Ministry of Sports Development at N3.56 billion, and the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) at N1.80 billion. The analysis also uncovered patterns of duplicate payments across several agencies, with instances such as the Police Formations Command recording a payment of N10 million to a beneficiary three separate times.

Similar duplications were noted in payments processed by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) and the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru.
