Ethics Central to Judicial Administration, Says NJI Chief

On Monday, Hon. Justice Babatunde Adejumo, the Administrator of the National Judicial Institute (NJI), addressed the opening ceremony of the National Workshop on Judicial Ethics for Courts and other judicial staff in Abuja. He stressed that ethics must remain central to judicial administration in Nigeria, highlighting that every staff member, regardless of their position, plays a crucial role in maintaining the reputation of the judiciary.

Adejumo warned that a single act of discourtesy, indiscretion, or misconduct could undermine public confidence in the judicial system, which has taken years to build. He further noted that professionalism, integrity, and respect for court users are essential for reinforcing the dignity of the judiciary and strengthening public trust in justice administration.

Adejumo pointed out that the responsibilities of workshop participants are sensitive, as they handle official records, confidential communications, and judicial schedules, which require the highest standards of honesty and sound judgment.
