DSS Ends Civil Arrests; Fubara Signs N1.84tn Budget

The Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Oluwatosin Ajayi, has issued a directive to operatives to stop making arrests over civil matters. This reform aims to enhance respect for the rule of law and improve the agency's human rights record by encouraging operatives to seek judicial intervention in such cases.

In a separate development, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has signed the N1.84 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill into law. This follows the approval of the bill by the Rivers State House of Assembly, which occurred nearly two months after the governor presented it.
