Destiny Ford Da-Silva Launches N30m Tennis Championship

Destiny Ford Da-Silva, the Nigerian number one tennis player and Davis Cup star, has announced the launch of the Destiny Da-Silva Tennis Open Championship, which will take place from November 13 to 21 at the tennis section of the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos. The championship, organized by the Destiny Ford Da-Silva Foundation, boasts a total prize purse of N30 million.

It aims to attract leading tennis players from across Nigeria and will include competitions in men’s and women’s singles and doubles, wheelchair men’s and women’s singles and doubles, as well as men’s veterans singles. The singles champions in both men’s and women’s categories will each receive N1.5 million, with the remaining prize money allocated to other categories.

Additionally, a N30,000 subsidy allowance will be provided for every main-draw player during the championship. Players must register through their state tennis associations ahead of the qualifying rounds, which begin on November 13, with the main draw starting on November 16.
