Duane “Keffe D” Davis to Stand Trial for Tupac Murder

Duane “Keffe D” Davis, aged 63, is facing trial for the murder of American rapper Tupac Shakur, who was killed in a drive-by shooting on September 7, 1996, in Las Vegas. Jury selection is scheduled to start on Monday in Clark County, Nevada.

Davis has pleaded not guilty to one count of murder with a deadly weapon. Prosecutors claim that Davis orchestrated the attack that led to Shakur's death, which occurred six days after he was shot following a boxing match at the MGM Grand casino.

The trial will be presided over by Judge Carli Kierny and is expected to last up to six weeks. Prosecutors may call Marion “Suge” Knight, who was in the car with Shakur during the shooting, as a witness.

Investigators allege that the shooting was a retaliation for an earlier fight involving Davis's nephew. Davis is described as the “shot caller” who provided the gun used in the shooting.

He has previously spoken about the incident in media interviews and his 2019 memoir, “Compton Street Legend.”.
