Essien Endorses Senator Sampson for 2027 Re-election

Former Minister of Land and Urban Development, Essien, publicly endorsed Senator Ekong Sampson's bid for re-election in the Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District for the 2027 elections. This endorsement occurred during a visit to the Mkpat Enin Elder Stakeholder Forum in Eket.

Essien highlighted Sampson's extensive experience in governance and legislative affairs, noting his previous roles as a principal legislative aide and executive chairman of the local government council. He stressed the importance of maintaining experienced lawmakers in the National Assembly, particularly in the Senate, to effectively represent the people.

Essien, who has served two terms as a member of the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2007, pointed out that the district has significantly benefited from experienced lawmakers. He called for a formal endorsement meeting with the senatorial district elders to support Sampson's candidacy, emphasizing that there is no room for inexperienced newcomers in the Senate.
