Sylva’s Aide Questions Coup Allegations Against Him

Chief Julius Bokoru, the Special Assistant on Media and Public Affairs to former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, addressed reports linking Sylva to an alleged coup plot against President Bola Tinubu's administration. Bokoru criticized the media's handling of these allegations, suggesting that the repeated nature of the reports indicated a deliberate campaign to shape public perception.

He emphasized the importance of verifying the sources of information, especially concerning sensitive security matters. Bokoru confirmed that security operatives had raided Sylva's Abuja residence during the investigation, causing significant damage, while Sylva was outside Nigeria.

He denied any involvement of Sylva in plans to remove Tinubu from office and expressed concern over the media's portrayal of the situation, urging journalists to avoid presenting unverified allegations as facts.
