Ex-Prestige Assurance Executive Alleges Wrongful Dismissal

Mrs. Ifeyinwa Edet, the former Head of Business Development at Prestige Assurance Plc, filed a petition on July 20, 2026, to Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt.

Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, alleging wrongful termination of her employment.

Edet claims her dismissal on April 24, 2026, was wrongful, premature, and procedurally defective, citing discriminatory treatment and workplace harassment. She asserts that despite her successful tenure, where she increased her portfolio from ₦9 billion to approximately ₦25 billion, she was denied severance benefits.

Edet alleges her termination was based on false claims of lateness and dereliction of duty, arguing that these accusations do not reflect the operational realities of the insurance industry. She also contends that previous executives received more favorable exit terms and that she was denied a fair hearing prior to her dismissal.

Edet's petition requests an investigation into her termination and equitable disengagement benefits.
