Gambari Appointed Visiting Scholar at UPenn Africana Studies

Professor Ibrahim Gambari has been appointed as a distinguished visiting scholar at the Center for Africana Studies at the University of Pennsylvania, with his tenure set to begin on January 1, 2026, and conclude on August 31, 2026, with a possibility of renewal. This announcement was made by the Savannah Center for Diplomacy, Democracy and Development in Abuja.

Gambari, who is the founder and chairman of the center, is recognized for his extensive contributions to academia, diplomacy, and peacebuilding. He is expected to engage with students and scholars at the Ivy League institution, sharing insights on global governance and development.

The appointment was highlighted by Professor Wale Adebanwi, who noted Gambari's long-standing impact in these fields. Gambari has held several key positions, including serving as Nigeria's ambassador to the United Nations and as the former chief of staff to the late President Muhammadu Buhari.
