36 Students Missing After Borno School Attack by ISWAP

On Monday, suspected ISWAP fighters attacked Government Day Secondary School in Lassa, Askira Uba Local Government Area, Borno State, resulting in the abduction of students and the death of a teacher. As of Tuesday, reports confirmed that at least 36 students are still unaccounted for, comprising 25 females and 11 males from various senior secondary school classes.

Parents have reported that their children have not returned home, and no contact has been made by either security agencies or the abductors. Governor Babagana Zulum's spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, confirmed the figures during a meeting with affected families.

The local search efforts concluded without any additional rescues. The Nigerian Army, led by Captain Moham Goni, has been involved in ongoing search and rescue operations, with some victims rescued unharmed.

The attack follows a recent mass abduction in a nearby community, raising concerns about security measures around schools.
