Gunmen Abduct Students During SSCE in Borno Attack

On Monday morning, gunmen attacked Government Day Secondary School in Lassa Town, located in Askira Uba Local Government Area, Borno State, abducting an unspecified number of students who were writing their Senior School Certificate Examination organized by the National Examination Council. During the assault, at least one teacher was shot dead, and several students sustained injuries, although the exact casualty figures remain unconfirmed.

Nahum Daso, the Borno State police spokesperson, acknowledged that several students went missing following the raid. Residents reported that Nigerian military troops stationed nearby in Uba, approximately 16 kilometers away, were not present during the attack, which involved a large number of assailants firing sporadically, causing panic in the area.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the soldiers were not around when the terrorists invaded the school.
