ExxonMobil to Cut 2,000 Jobs in Global Workforce Restructuring

ExxonMobil plans to lay off 2,000 employees, representing 3-4% of its global workforce, as part of a strategy to enhance efficiency and competitiveness. The Chief Executive Officer, Darren Woods, announced the restructuring to focus on growth projects in oil exploration in Guyana, liquefied natural gas, and energy trading.

The company aims to reduce costs by $6 billion annually through internal reorganization. ExxonMobil has been undergoing significant changes since 2019, consolidating units and divisions.

By 2024, the company expects to have 20% fewer employees than in 2019. The move is part of Exxon's efforts to lead in the energy sector over the next decade.
