FAAN Allows Bolt to Resume Operations at Airports

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), through its Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, announced on Thursday that it has reached an operational framework with Bolt, allowing the e-hailing service to resume operations at FAAN-managed airports. This decision comes after a temporary interruption of e-hailing services, which had caused passenger concerns over transportation options and fare costs.

FAAN acknowledged the inconvenience caused by this disruption and stated that it had listened to public feedback, leading to necessary adjustments. The Authority explained that recent regulatory measures aimed to address long-standing challenges associated with commercial and e-hailing vehicles at airports, including passenger solicitation, unregulated operations, and safety concerns.

FAAN introduced the Airport Car Hire Rank Management System (ACHRAMS) to enhance management and visibility of transportation services at the airport, clarifying that ACHRAMS is not an e-hailing application and does not compete with services like Bolt or Uber. FAAN also emphasized that the existing airport taxi fares were not newly imposed and aimed to provide greater transparency.
