FAAN Considers Extending Airport Cab Upgrade Deadline

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) is contemplating an extension of the deadline for airport cab operators to upgrade their vehicles until October 2026. This decision follows appeals from members of the association of private cab operators regarding the operational charges associated with the upgrades.

FAAN has emphasized that this extension is a final opportunity for operators to comply with the new service standards aimed at enhancing passenger experience at Nigerian airports. The original compliance deadline was shifted from January 2026 to June 2026, and this latest proposal is in response to requests from stakeholders amid prevailing economic conditions.

FAAN has already granted several extensions over the past two years. The authority also announced a tariff increase for airport cab operations from N500 to N1,500, the first change in eight years, citing inflation and rising operational costs as reasons for this adjustment.

FAAN maintains that the policy changes are designed to improve service delivery rather than penalize operators.
