FAAN Expels Firm for Illegal Vehicle Clamping at Airport

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has ordered the immediate ejection of a transport company from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, following allegations of illegal vehicle clamping and the collection of N25,000 penalties from motorists. The complaints, escalated to FAAN Managing Director Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku by a lawyer identified as Ogundele, indicated that enforcement personnel were clamping vehicles and demanding fines, directing motorists to a 'red-painted container' for payment.

Instead of using official payment channels, motorists were reportedly referred to personal accounts and point-of-sale operators associated with individuals named Sani Nasiru, Bala Matazu, and Yahaya Matage. Ogundele expressed concerns over the lack of designated payment accounts and the immediate processing of payments to these personal accounts compared to delays with official channels.

FAAN has distanced itself from the company, with Kuku stating that the company had no current agreement and had previously been warned against such practices.
