Fabio Breaks All-Time Appearance Record In Men’s Football

Fabio, a Brazilian football goalkeeper, made history by breaking the all-time appearance record in men's football during a Copa Sudamericana match between Fluminense and América de Cali at the Maracanã stadium. This milestone surpassed the record previously held by England legend Peter Shilton.

Fabio equalled Shilton's tally on Saturday and officially surpassed it on Tuesday. While FIFA and CONMEBOL are yet to confirm the record, Fluminense and Brazilian media outlets celebrated Fabio's achievement.

The goalkeeper expressed his pride in keeping a clean sheet during the record-breaking match, with fans and coach Renato Gaúcho praising his longevity and professionalism. Fabio's career, spanning over two decades, includes 976 appearances for Cruzeiro, Vasco da Gama, and Fluminense.

At 44 years old, Fabio shows no signs of slowing down, surpassing Shilton's record of 30 appearances in his final year as a professional in 199.
