Abure, Shittu Deny Links to Late Tanimola Amid Scandal

Julius Abure, the immediate past National Chairman of the Labour Party, and Adebayo Shittu, a former Minister of Communications, have distanced themselves from the late Dolapo Tanimola following reports linking them to a controversy involving a fictitious agency. This comes after a photograph surfaced showing Abure and Shittu with Tanimola, raising public interest amid ongoing investigations by the Presidential Committee on Financial and Investment Practices (PFIPC).

Tanimola was identified as a key figure in a scandal involving Adeniyi Adeyemi, who allegedly presented himself as the Director General of a non-existent agency. President Bola Tinubu has mandated a comprehensive investigation into the matter, which includes examining fraudulent appointment letters and other official documents.

Tanimola's death occurred on October 22, 2025, at Kachi Hotel in Abuja, just five days after Adeyemi was arrested as a prime suspect. Abure's spokesman, Obiora Ifoh, and Shittu both denied recognizing Tanimola or having any relationship with him.
