Disagreements Delay House Committee Report on Fake Agency

The House of Representatives ad hoc committee, chaired by Plateau State lawmaker Yusuf Gagdi, is facing internal disagreements that are delaying the final report on the purported Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council. The committee has been active for over a month, questioning senior government officials, including Didi Walson-Jack, Hamisu Abdullahi, Tanimu Yakubu, and Joshua Luka, regarding their involvement with the agency.

Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claimed to be the agency's Director-General, alleged he paid N400 million to Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, to secure his position. However, Adeyemi later stated he never met Gbajabiamila.

The Presidency and Gbajabiamila have denied these allegations, labeling the agency as fictitious and accusing Adeyemi of forgery. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission cleared the Presidency of wrongdoing and recommended Adeyemi's prosecution.

The committee's inability to formally invite Gbajabiamila to testify has also contributed to the delays in concluding the report.
