Controversy Surrounds Gagdi as Probe Nears Conclusion

The House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, chaired by Yusuf Gagdi, is nearing the conclusion of its assignment. A member of the House criticized Gagdi's appointment as chairman, noting that he was the one who initiated the motion for the investigation.

This raises concerns about the impartiality of the probe. The lawmaker questioned the committee's approach, particularly regarding the handling of signatures from Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, and accused the panel of conducting a one-sided investigation.

Gagdi's moderation style during committee sessions has also been criticized, with claims that he excluded important questions from discussions. Additionally, Gagdi failed to appear for a scheduled session with the House press corps without prior notice.

Anthony Sani, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, expressed that the public expects a thorough investigation involving all parties mentioned in the scandal, particularly in light of the death of alleged intermediary Dolapo Tanimola.
