ICPC Clears Gbajabiamila in PFIPC Forgery Scandal

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) cleared Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, of any involvement in the appointment of Adeniyi Adeyemi as director-general of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), which lacks legal basis. In an interim report submitted to President Tinubu on August 6, the ICPC revealed that Adeyemi forged an appointment letter dated March 2024 on fake State House letterhead, falsely attributing Gbajabiamila's signature.

The investigation confirmed that the Office of the Chief of Staff does not issue appointment letters for government agencies and found no records of communication regarding Adeyemi or the PFIPC. The ICPC established that the PFIPC was never legally established, and Adeyemi was never appointed.

Despite this, he used the forged letter to gain office space and recognition from public institutions. Following inquiries from the National Security Adviser in October 2025, the presidency disowned the PFIPC, leading to Adeyemi's charges for forgery and impersonation.
