Donald Trump, the former President of the United States, publicly criticized CNN for its report on a ceasefire agreement between the U.S. and Iran, calling the story "fake news" and accusing the network of spreading false information. Trump made these remarks on his Truth Social platform, asserting that the CNN report was misleading and based on information traced back to a Nigerian news platform.

The ceasefire agreement, which was announced shortly before a deadline, reportedly allows both countries to temporarily halt hostilities, with provisions for the coordinated movement in the Strait of Hormuz under Iranian supervision for a two-week period. Trump demanded that CNN retract the report and suggested a formal investigation into what he termed a criminal act.

He did not provide evidence for his claims regarding the Nigerian outlet. In contrast, Iran's Foreign Minister Abba Araghchi presented an official statement affirming the ceasefire's details, which Iranian state media described as a strategic success.
