Super Falcons Await FG Rewards Ahead of 2026 WAFCON

The Super Falcons are intensifying their preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco but are still awaiting the Federal Government's promised rewards of $100,000 cash, housing units, and national honours certificates following their 2022 WAFCON victory. In December 2025, National Sports Commission Chairman Shehu Dikko announced that the rewards had been processed, with cash payments to be made directly into players' bank accounts.

However, as the tournament approaches, the players have yet to receive these rewards, contrasting with the timely presentation of similar rewards to the D’Tigress after their 2025 Women’s AfroBasket win. The delay has raised concerns among former internationals, including Patience Avre, who noted that current players are disappointed and worried that the unfulfilled promises could negatively impact their morale and performance in the upcoming tournament.
