Super Falcons Report Theft Ahead of WAFCON in Morocco

Members of Nigeria’s Super Falcons have reported a theft incident at their hotel in Casablanca, Morocco, just days before the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). Players discovered missing cash from their wallets after returning to their rooms.

Forward Esther Okoronkwo lost $700, team captain Rasheedat Ajibade reported $200 missing, defender Osinachi Ohale lost $100, midfielder Joy Omewa is missing $120, and Halimatu Ayinde reported a loss of $100. The total amount allegedly stolen from the affected players is $1,220, equivalent to over N1.7 million.

The incident has raised concerns as the team prepares for the tournament, with officials reportedly informed but no official statement from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) or confirmation of an investigation. The Super Falcons, defending champions, are training in Casablanca before moving to Rabat for the championship, where they will compete in Group C against Malawi, Zambia, and Egypt.

Head coach Justine Madugu acknowledged the challenges of defending their title.
