Bandits Kill Five Farmers in Sokoto Reprisal Attack

On Sunday morning, a violent attack occurred in the Sokoto communities of Ghandi and Gidan Kare, resulting in the deaths of five farmers and injuries to five others. The attack took place between 7 am and 8 am as farmers were heading to their farms.

Three farmers were killed in Ghandi, while two were killed in Gidan Kare, where the attackers also set houses ablaze. A security source indicated that this incident was likely a reprisal by bandits following a recent operation that led to the deaths of 15 bandits at Maikujera.

Security personnel were deployed to the affected areas after the attack, but the assailants had already fled. DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, the spokesman for the Sokoto State Police Command, stated that he had not yet been briefed about the incident at the time of the report.
