Bandits Kill 13 in Attacks on Sokoto Communities

On Thursday evening and Friday morning, bandits attacked several communities in Sokoto, resulting in the deaths of thirteen individuals. The attacks claimed six lives in Mazau Village and four in Turtasawa, including two women.

Residents reported that the bandits attempted to invade Unguwan Lall but were repelled by local vigilantes and security forces after a prolonged gun battle. It is believed that the bandits suffered heavy casualties during this encounter.

Following the initial attacks, the bandits returned on Friday morning, ambushing farmers in Tsamay Village, where three more were killed. The attacks occurred during the burial of previous victims.

Community leader Sabon Birni confirmed the incidents, which are part of a series of renewed assaults by bandits in the area. Efforts to contact members of the Sokoto State House of Assembly and the Sokoto State Police Command for comments were unsuccessful.
