Mob Assaults Police Station in Ondo After Farmer's Death

A mob attacked the Ala Divisional Police Headquarters in Akure North Local Government Area, Ondo State, injuring two police officers after the killing of farmer Rasheed Hassan. The incident occurred when two suspects arrested for Hassan's death were brought to the police station.
The mob attempted to seize the suspects, demanding extrajudicial action. DSP Abayomi Jimoh of the Ondo State Police Command condemned the attack, stating that preliminary observations indicated severe injuries to Hassan and missing belongings.
The Ala Youth President had arrested two suspects on October 26, 2026, and sought refuge at the police station when confronted by the mob. The mob threw stones and other objects at the police facility, prompting a police response.
At approximately 1:45 am on Tuesday, police operatives rescued the suspects, but the patrol team was later attacked, resulting in gunshot injuries to two officers from pellets fired by a youth pump-action firearm. Fourteen suspects were arrested following the incident, and investigations are ongoing.
