Fayose Analyzes Osun Election, Urges Reconciliation

Ayodele Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti State, commented on the closely contested Osun gubernatorial election, which resulted in Ademola Adeleke securing a second term. Fayose emphasized that the election was competitive, with a narrow margin of 52% to 48%, indicating that the outcome could have easily favored either candidate.

He spent time in Osun before and during the election to gauge public sentiment, finding that the contest was unpredictable. Fayose noted that Adeleke's winning margin was approximately 66,000 votes, with about 46,000 of those votes coming from Ede, a known stronghold for the Adeleke family.

He condemned the violence and killings that marred the election, calling them unnecessary. Fayose urged Adeleke and his supporters to be magnanimous in victory and to pursue reconciliation with all political stakeholders in Osun.

He also commented on the influence of the Federal Government in elections, stating that if the government wanted to control an election, it could do so.
