Fayose Comments on Osun Governorship Election Outcome

Ayo Fayose, the former Governor of Ekiti State, stated that if the Federal Government intended to manipulate an election, it would be difficult to prevent. His remarks came during an interview with TVC News regarding the Osun State governorship election held on August 15, 2026.

Fayose was present in Osogbo throughout the election, visiting markets and communities to gauge voter sentiment. He indicated that the election was closely contested, with a final margin of 66,000 votes, of which 46,000 came from Ede, the stronghold of the Adeleke family.

Fayose emphasized that the closeness of the election results suggested either candidate could have won. He expressed concern over the violence and killings that occurred around the election, labeling them as unnecessary.

Fayose's analysis pointed to the need for a deeper examination of the election results beyond merely declaring a winner and a loser.
