Fayose Praises Tinubu, Alleges 2018 Election Manipulation

Ayodele Fayose, the former Governor of Ekiti State, commented on President Bola Tinubu's conduct during the August 15 Osun State governorship election, describing him as "magnanimous." Fayose noted that the Federal Government could have influenced the election's outcome if it desired. He referenced comments made by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, suggesting that he could have aided Tinubu in securing a victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In the election, Ademola Adeleke, the incumbent governor and Accord candidate, won with 511,067 votes, defeating APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who received 444,815 votes. Fayose urged Adeleke to be "magnanimous in victory." He contrasted the Osun election with his experience during the 2018 Ekiti governorship election, alleging that the Federal Government used its influence to take the state from him.

Fayose recounted being prevented from leaving the Government House and facing physical assault from security personnel three days before the election.
