FCCPC Warns Transport Operators Against Unfair Practices During Festive Season

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) in Nigeria has issued a warning to transport operators regarding arbitrary fare increases during the Christmas and New Year period. The FCCPC clarified that while price hikes are not illegal in themselves, exploitative and unfair practices will attract strict regulatory sanctions.

The Commission is closely monitoring market conduct to ensure fair pricing and consumer protection during the festive season. Tunji Bello, the Executive Vice Chairman of FCCPC, emphasized the need for responsible pricing and voluntary compliance to prevent consumer exploitation.
