FCCPC Warns Transporters Against Fare Hikes Amid Decreasing Fuel Prices

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) in Nigeria has cautioned road transport operators against unjustified fare increases during the ongoing festive travel period. While acknowledging the seasonal demand and operational pressures affecting transport prices, the FCCPC stressed the importance of clear and accurate fare information to protect consumers.

The Commission, led by spokesperson Ondaj Ijagwu and executive Tunji Bello, is closely monitoring market conduct and engaging transport unions to encourage responsible pricing practices. Violators of fair pricing regulations may face penalties under the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA) of 2018.
