FCTA Develops Multi-Event Sports Centres for Youth

The Federal Capital Territory Administration, under the leadership of Minister Nyesom Wike, is transforming Abuja through significant investments in infrastructure, including the development of two state-of-the-art multi-event sports centres. Approved during the 11th FCT Executive Council Meeting in December 2024, construction of the first centre commenced on September 1, 2025.

These centres are designed to modern standards and will include football pitches, lawn tennis courts, table tennis facilities, and indoor sports halls. Upon completion, they will enhance existing facilities like the Moshood Abiola National Stadium and the Area 3 Sports Centre, expanding access to quality sports infrastructure for FCT residents.

The centres aim to empower youth by providing safe environments for talent development and creating employment opportunities for various roles, including coaches and event organizers. Additionally, they will stimulate local businesses and promote Abuja as a destination for regional and international sporting events, thereby boosting tourism and the economy.
