Omidiran to Support FCT FA Women’s Football Tournament

Honorable Hulayat Motunrayo Omidiran, the Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), has pledged her support for women's football in the Federal Capital Territory. She is set to attend the opening ceremony of the 2026 FCT FA Women’s Inter-Area Council Football Tournament on Friday, August 21, at 10 am.

Omidiran made this commitment during a courtesy visit from Dr Pat Adjuma Ayegba, President of HerGame Foundation and FCT Football Association Board Member, on Thursday in Abuja. The tournament, organized by the Federal Capital Territory Football Association, will feature female football teams from the six Area Councils of the FCT, aiming to identify and promote promising talents.

Omidiran expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative, highlighting the importance of providing young girls with opportunities through sports. She described the tournament as a fresh start for revitalizing women’s football in the FCT and expressed optimism for its growth with continued support.

The tournament will include group stages followed by semi-finals on September 2 and a grand finale on September 5.
