FCT-IRS Advocates Harmonization of New Tax Laws

The Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS), under the leadership of Chairman Mr. Micheal Ango, has initiated efforts to harmonize new tax laws aimed at improving revenue generation and infrastructure development in Nigeria.

During a stakeholder engagement forum held in Abuja on a Monday, Ango emphasized the necessity of full stakeholder engagement to drive the revenue generation process. He discussed the implications of Nigeria's new tax governance architecture, which is set to be introduced in 2026, featuring a unified framework designed to streamline tax administration and foster national coordination.

Mr. Zacch Adedeji, Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, highlighted the importance of integrating technology into the revenue system to enhance efficiency and transparency.

The forum also included remarks from Mr. Olusegun Adesokan, Executive Secretary of the Joint Revenue Board, who stressed the critical role of technology in promoting the new tax law.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's leadership is noted as pivotal for the successful implementation of these fiscal reforms.
