Man Electrocuted While Stealing Transformer Cables in Abuja

In the early hours of Friday, a young man was found dead on Trademore Road, Lugbe, Abuja, after being electrocuted while attempting to cut cables from a transformer. Witnesses noted that the deceased's body was found in a crouched position, suggesting he was electrocuted when electricity was restored after a blackout the previous night.

A crowd gathered at the scene, taking photos and lamenting the ongoing activities of vandals in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Mr. Rasheed Ogunyemi, a resident from the Iddo Seriki area along Airport Road, shared that he and others frequently contribute funds to repair their local transformer, which is often targeted by vandals.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident, stating that the body had been removed from the scene and taken to a mortuary in Gwagwalada for an autopsy.
