FCT Police Deny Kidney Sales Claims, Address Extortion Video

The FCT Police Command has moved to counter unverified claims spreading across social media platforms that allege the force verified reports of organ sales among residents in Nyanya. According to a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer SP Josephine Adeh on Wednesday, the Command sought to distance itself from publications suggesting it had authenticated stories about young people in the Nyanya area selling kidneys or that agents in Mararaba were engaged in purchasing human body parts.

The police authority instructed the public to disregard these unsubstantiated reports. In a related development, the FCT Police Command announced it has taken steps to detain officers featured in a separate video that circulated online showing an alleged incident of financial extortion.

The video purportedly shows police personnel extracting ₦40,000 from a resident in an unauthorized manner along a roadway in the territory. SP Adeh's statement confirmed that Commissioner of Police Ahmed Sanusi had been informed of the footage and that officers implicated in the matter were now in custody.

The Command has invited the complainant in the extortion case to provide a formal statement to support investigations and potential disciplinary proceedings against the detained officers. This invitation signals the police leadership's stated intention to hold personnel accountable through internal processes.

The extortion allegation emerged as a separate matter from the kidney sales denial but reflects ongoing scrutiny of police conduct in the FCT. Both incidents underscore the volume of police-related content circulating through Nigerian social media channels.
