Police Officers Face Trial for Extorting ICPC Chairman

The Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory Command, Ahmed Sanusi, has mandated an orderly room trial for four police officers—ASP Clement Ehigala, ASP Sunday Okpe, Inspector Samuel Onoja, and Sergeant Yakubu Emmanuel—accused of extorting ₦52,000 from Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

The incident occurred on July 11, 2026, at approximately 3:34 p.m. when the officers allegedly abandoned their duty posts and conducted an unauthorized traffic enforcement operation at Banex Plaza Junction in Wuse II. They stopped Dr.

Aliyu under the pretext of a traffic violation and extorted money from him. Following the complaint, CP Ahmed Sanusi ordered the officers' immediate arrest and initiated disciplinary proceedings against them, emphasizing the police command's commitment to professionalism and accountability.

Sanusi condemned the officers' actions, labeling them as "thieves" and asserting that severe disciplinary actions would follow for any officer found guilty.
