Taura Loses Return Ticket as Jigawa APC Picks Consensus Candidate

Hon. Adu Wada Taura, a federal lawmaker representing the Ringim constituency, lost his bid to secure a return ticket for the next electoral cycle after the Jigawa APC adopted a consensus candidate arrangement.

The preferred candidate, Hon. Yusha'u Muhammad, emerged from a screening process coordinated by a committee inaugurated by Governor Umar Namadi.

This committee was tasked with assessing aspirants and narrowing the field to three final consensus candidates. The decision comes amid growing discontent within the constituency, as indicated by the fact that no fewer than eleven aspirants initially expressed interest in contesting for the seat.

Additionally, Hon. Taura faced backlash earlier this year for publishing a list of constituents allegedly receiving financial support to assume office in 2023, which sparked outrage and led to beneficiaries rejecting the disclosure of returning funds to personal accounts.

In a related development, Hon. Aminu Sule Sankara from the Jigawa State House of Assembly also lost his return ticket, being replaced by Hon.

Hamza Muhammad Ustaz through the same consensus process.
