Fela Kuti Inducted into Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Fela Kuti has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Nigerian to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. This recognition places him alongside influential artists such as Queen Latifah, Celia Cruz, and MC Lyte, with the induction ceremony set to take place on November 14 at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.

Additionally, Nigerian-born British singer Sade Adu will honor the event by performing in the ceremony, which will also feature global acts like Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Oasis, Luther Vandross, and Wu-Tang Clan. The nomination process involved 1,200 artists, historians, and music industry professionals.

Fela's induction follows his earlier recognition in January when he became the first African musician to receive a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, nearly 30 years after his death. This event also comes two years after the introduction of the Best African Performance category at the Grammy Awards.
