Fela Kuti and Sade Adu Inducted into 2026 Hall of Fame

Fela Kuti and Sade Adu have been announced as inductees in the 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame class, a significant milestone for both artists and the recognition of their global music influence. The announcement was made during the annual Hall of Fame reveal segment hosted by Lionel Richie and Ryan Seacrest.

This year's lineup features a diverse group of artists across multiple genres, including Phil Collins, Iron Maiden, Oasis, Wu-Tang Clan, Queen Latifah, and Celia Cruz. Fela Kuti, a pioneer of Afrobeat, is celebrated for blending traditional West African highlife with jazz, funk, and soul, using his music as a tool for political activism against corruption and military rule.

Despite facing censorship and arrests, his influence remains evident in contemporary African music, inspiring artists like Burna Boy. Sade Adu, the lead vocalist of the band Sade, is recognized for her distinct sound that blends jazz, soul, and R&B, achieving critical acclaim and commercial success with hits like "Sweetest Taboo." The official induction ceremony is scheduled for November 14, 2026, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, and will be broadcast on ABC and streamed on Disney+ in December.
