Emmanuel Fernandez Addresses Criticism Amid Rangers' Struggles

Emmanuel Fernandez, a centre-back for Rangers, has responded to criticism of his performances following a challenging start to the 2026-27 season. After joining Rangers from Peterborough United last summer, he had a successful debut campaign, earning the club’s Men’s Player of The Season award and being named in the PFA Scotland Team of The Season.

However, this season has seen him struggle to maintain that form, particularly after Rangers' disappointing exit from the Europa League, which marked the first time since 2017 that the club would not participate in European football. Ahead of a match against St Mirren, Fernandez stated he does not focus on external criticism but aims to improve his game.

He emphasized the importance of concentration and teamwork in limiting opponents' scoring opportunities. Despite the setback of missing European competition, he noted the squad's growing togetherness and the potential to compete for three domestic trophies this season.
