FG Approves 50,000 More Slots for 2026 NYSC Mobilization

The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved an additional 50,000 slots for the 2026 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) mobilization, as disclosed by Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, the Director General of NYSC, during the inauguration of a remodeled clinic in Abuja. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance the quality of life for corps members, which includes provisions for their kits, feeding, and transportation.

The NYSC aims to mobilize 450,000 prospective corps members annually while ensuring their safety, particularly advising against night travel and suggesting nearby military barracks or police stations for emergencies. The clinic's upgrade is part of administrative efforts to improve staff welfare and efficiency.

Nafiu also mentioned a successful staff promotion exercise aimed at enhancing career progression and morale within the scheme. The NYSC is collaborating with various stakeholders, including the Nigerian Governors Forum and local government chairmen, to strengthen support for the program.
