FG Launches N3.6bn Fund to Support Tailors in Nigeria

The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved a N3.6 billion Business Incubation Fund specifically for tailors, as announced by Dr. Afiz Ogun, the Director-General of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF).

This initiative is part of the Skill Artisan Support Program and aims to build sustainable enterprises, create jobs, and enhance professionalism within the sector. The program is designed to target tailors, who represent a significant proportion of participants in this scheme.

The first phase of the program is expected to benefit 200,000 artisans, with a nationwide screening of applicants taking place across all senatorial districts to ensure that only genuine artisans are admitted. The government aims to prevent exploitation of the program by individuals seeking financial gain without participating in training.

This initiative is part of President Bola Tinubu's administration's efforts to reduce Nigeria's dependence on foreign artisans and to establish a structured database for artisans, introducing a licensing regime to promote professionalism across various sectors.
