FG Launches 250-Unit Housing Estate for Civil Servants

The Federal Government of Nigeria has commenced the construction of 250 units of two-bedroom bungalows for federal civil servants as part of the Renewed Hope Civil Service Estate in Gwagwalada, Abuja. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on Wednesday, with Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Muttaqha Darma, stating that this initiative is part of a broader housing intervention across all 36 states of Nigeria.

The project aims to provide affordable housing for civil servants and enhance efficiency within the public service. Darma urged contractors, supervisors, and consultants to ensure quality construction and durability of the housing units.

He reiterated the government's commitment to fulfilling President Bola Tinubu's housing mandate, outlining several upcoming housing projects expected to be completed before May 2027, including 132 rent-to-own houses and additional units in Lagos and Abuja. Didi Walson-Jack, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, described the project as a significant milestone for civil servants' welfare.
