Federal Government Launches 120MVA Power Substation in Katsina

The Federal Government has initiated the construction of a 132/33kV electricity transmission substation in Mashi Local Government Area, Katsina State, with a capacity of 120 megavolt-amperes. This project is being executed by the Transmission Company of Nigeria and is scheduled for completion by March 2027.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Minister of Power Joseph Tegbe stated that the substation, which will include two 60MVA transformers, aims to improve electricity transmission and support economic activities in the region. Tegbe emphasized that the facility would benefit farmers, traders, artisans, and households by strengthening the electricity infrastructure.
He commended President Bola Tinubu for his support of investments in the power sector. Tegbe also addressed compensation issues related to the project and urged all involved parties to ensure quality delivery.
He called on Mashi residents to protect the facility against vandalism and to view it as a community asset.
