Nigerian Government Denies Endorsing History Textbook Without Igbo Section

The Federal Government of Nigeria has denied endorsing a history textbook that excludes an Igbo section. Boriowo Folasade, the Director of Press and Public Relations at the Ministry, clarified that the book in question was neither recommended by the National Education Research and Development Council (NERDC) nor included in the official list of approved history textbooks.

The Ministry consulted with NERDC leadership to review the endorsed materials and confirmed that the textbook did not align with the approved curriculum. Folasade urged parents, teachers, and school administrators to disregard misinformation surrounding the book, emphasizing the negative impact of using unapproved materials on teaching and learning outcomes.

The statement called for public support in rejecting divisive misinformation and encouraged consulting NERDC for verified information on approved educational resources.
